Call For Journal Papers

Each fall the Society publishes "A Journal of Franklin County History." Papers may be submitted throughout the year on the following topics:

            -Politics

            -Culture

            -Science

            -Education

            -People

            -Religion

Articles may address Franklin County’s role in national events or look at Franklin County history from a comparative perspective.

 

Submitted essays will be reviewed by the Franklin County Historical Society—Kittochtinny’s Publication Committee.

 

Essays should be no more than 30 typed, double-spaced pages (12,000 words) including endnotes; shorter works are welcomed. All works should be prepared according to Kate L. Turabian’s, A Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations, 7th edition (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2007).​

All submissions should include a cover letter containing the title of the essay and the author’s address, phone number, and email address.

Formatting:

  • Please format your paper in a word document (Word or Google Docs)

  • Please use Chicago-style endnotes www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html

  • Please use only one space after sentences.

  • Please use Word or Google Docs references tool to create your endnotes (there are many tutorials on YouTube, if you need further assistance please contact Shandra at 717-264-1667)

Old Jail Museum:

​There are no tours in October due to our Haunted Jail event, the Genealogy Library remains open Tuesday-Friday 10-3 during October.

Tours will resume Thursday November 6.​
