Volunteer Opportunities

• Library Assistant - Orient visitors with the genealogy library and assist them in their research (training provided, some familiarity with genealogy and computers helpful)

• Tour Guide - Guide visitors throughout the Old Jail and John Brown House, special tours of Brown’s Mill School & Cemetery

• Group Tours assistant - Greeting and directing visitors

• Administrative Assistant - Assist with preparing mailings, filing and organizing

• Scanning/Digitizing – Scanning old books, documents, etc.

• Pitch In Days - Maintenance, yard clean up, cemetery clean-up

• Special Events - Halloween, fundraising events etc.

• Paranormal – Open building and oversee visitors for evening paranormal research

• Training provided! Scripts and shadowing provided for tour guides

• Please note the environment of the Historical Society requires the use of stairs/steps.

• Volunteer shifts available: Tuesday-Saturday between 9:30AM and 4PM, and occasional evenings and weekends for special events. We are closed Sundays & Mondays.
